Instituto Arnaiz
ARNAIZ is committed to disseminating and complying with the environmental, social and good governance criteria included in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at the municipal level. The firm carries out its Corporate Social Responsibility activities through the Arnaiz Institute.
Instituto Arnaiz is an international institution dedicated to training and local development in Latin America in the fields of urban planning and real estate development, oriented to the fulfilment of the SDGs at the municipal level.
The entity works in a crosscutting and complementary way with the Advisory Council of the Latin American Federation of Municipalities (FLACMA) for the development of the SDGs -as a consequence of the leadership positions of the Federation currently held by Leopoldo and Fernando Arnaiz-; which offers a series of multi-sector contacts in the municipal sphere in Latin America and in the large global and European Union organisations.
The Programme seeks to train local youth in the knowledge and application of the goals pursued by the SDGs, promoting their participation in the transformation and sustainable development of their municipalities.
Its most important distinguishing feature is the digital aspect, as it includes the creation of 17 maps based on updated aerial photographs, which reflect the SDGs in the municipal context and are published on a municipal geoportal free of charge, fostering multi-level cooperation and enabling the sharing of relevant municipal data.
In addition, the programme seeks to foster collaboration between young people, local governments, universities and experts to generate updated territorial information, facilitate the comparison of the evolution of the SDGs between municipalities and contribute to municipal development through the identification and implementation of improvement projects based on diagnoses and real data.
By 2023, SDG Municipal has trained a total of 4,206 young people from 58 municipalities in 7 Latin American countries such as Bolivia, Peru, Dominican Republic, Argentina, Mexico, Guatemala and El Salvador.
