Arnaiz advances in the development of the new General Urban Plan of Bucharest, Romania

November 27, 2025. Arnaiz, a leading firm in global urban planning and real estate development, is making progress in the development and drafting of the new General Urban Plan for Bucharest, Romania—an initiative of major importance for the city’s future urban development.

Last week, the firm hosted a series of working meetings at its headquarters in Madrid focused on the future PUG. These sessions were attended by the Mayor of Bucharest, Stelian Bujduveanu; the President of Arnaiz, Leopoldo Arnaiz; as well as technical teams from the Municipality, the “Ion Mincu” University of Architecture and Urban Planning (UAUIM), and Arnaiz.

During the working sessions, participants reviewed the progress made to date and discussed the next steps required to promote a more modern, coherent, and sustainable urban model. Arnaiz’s experience—spanning more than five decades dedicated to urban planning, the design of new developments, and the regeneration of metropolitan areas—provides a highly valuable comparative perspective for adapting solutions that have proven effective in similar contexts.

The collaboration between local technical teams, the University, and the consortium responsible for the PUG will help drive progress in key areas such as mobility, the expansion of green spaces, the protection of architectural heritage, and the improvement of quality of life in Bucharest.

Projects such as the development of this PUG represent a clear example of international cooperation in urban planning and demonstrate how cities can address their challenges through strategic, innovative, and sustainable approaches.
