Leopoldo Arnaiz leads the constitution of the Latin American Institute for Municipalist Training

May 3rd 2024. At the Executive Board of the Latin American Federation of Cities, Municipalities and Local Government Associations (FLACMA), held in San José, Costa Rica in April, Leopoldo Arnaiz, president of Arnaiz and executive president of the FLACMA Advisory Council, presented the constitution of the Latin American Institute for Municipalist Training (LAIMT) and its members to an audience of more than 200 representatives of Latin American municipalities and international organisations.

This new Institute, promoted by the Advisory Council and various national and international academic organisations, seeks to create a strong collaboration with global institutions, academics, and experts to provide a training platform for the more than 8 million local public officials in Latin America. This initiative represents a significant step towards strengthening municipal management in that region.

In the meantime, Fernando Arnaiz, General Director of the Arnaiz Institute, and the Municipal SDG Programme, participated in the Bureau of the World Organization of Mayors of United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) in San José, Costa Rica, and led the round table on the water problem in Latin America, in preparation for the 10th World Water Forum to be held from 18 to 24 May in Bali (Indonesia).

The active involvement of Leopoldo Arnaiz and Fernando Arnaiz in these events underlines their strong dedication and commitment to strengthening municipal management and promoting sustainable development, both at the regional level in Latin America and in the global context.
