Arnaiz advises on urban and land-use planning for the installation of three solar photovoltaic plants in Mula (Murcia)

Madrid, May 31st 2024. Arnaiz, a leading firm in urban planning and global real estate development, has been the advisory team that enabled the concession of the exceptional use authorisation for the implementation of three photovoltaic solar plants in the municipality of Mula (Murcia), providing urban planning advice to the promoters of this photovoltaic solar energy park.

These facilities, which will occupy an area of approximately 775 hectares, represent a strategic project for the Region of Murcia, and mark a significant step towards sustainability and energy transition in this autonomous region.

Specifically, the solar photovoltaic plants named ‘PSF Mula II’, ‘PSF Mula III’ and ‘PSF Murcia 1’, will have a combined production capacity of 300 MW and represent an estimated investment of around 200 million euros.

The zoning of the land necessary for these solar plants received official approval from the Government of the Region of Murcia by means of orders issued on October 23rd 2023 by the Regional Council for Town and Urban Planning, published in the Official Regional Bulletin (Boletín Oficial de la Región de Murcia – BORM) two days later. These decrees exceptionally grant authorisation for the use of solar photovoltaic plants as an action of public interest.

These new authorisations follow the one obtained in 2015, also with the support and advice of Arnaiz, for the ‘Mula 0’ solar plant. This plant, which covers an area of 1,087 hectares and has a production capacity of 450 MW, was a milestone in the region and highlights the firm’s capacity to lead large-scale projects in the renewable energy sector.
